Mutual relations of Belarusian and Russian language in Belarus and reflection of language situation in education

The present diploma thesis deals with the co-relation of language situation in Belarus and the educational system. The first chapter is devoted to historical relations of Polish, Russian and Belarusian in the period starting from the 19th century up to the present moment, to the country's language question and the role of religious affiliation in the choice of the language. The second chapter analyzes primarily the reflection of changes in the language policies at the turn of 1980's and 1990's, as well as the position of Belarusian in the educational system and the comparison of presence of both languages on all educational levels. The third chapter contains the description of the significant role of bilingualism in contemporary world, presentation of Belarusian bilingualism, as well as possible use of the thesis for various academic purposes. French language in Morocco

This report deals with the problematic of Francophonie in Morocco, an African country that used to be under a French protectorate for a period of 44 years. The first part of this report focuses on the implantation of the French language in the country. It illustrates the demolinguistic situation of the country as well as the position of French amongst the other local languages spoken by Morocco's population. The last part of the present report is devoted to the analysis of respective legislation and the real practise, pursuant to which is reviewed the current position of the French language in various areas of the social life.
European language policy and some aspects of its implementation in the Czech Republic

This thesis deals with the implementation of the European language policy in the Czech Republic, specifically in the area of basic education. In the first part are defined basic concepts, especially language policy, language planning and language management. Furthermore, the work described principles of European language policy and the concept of bi/ multilingualism. The second part is devoted to a specific form of European language policy in the Czech Republic, especially in the area of basic education. The fundamental legal and curricular documents on this topic are described. Qualitative research aims to explore the decision making processes of heads of schools in teaching foreign languages. The work examines what has influence on these decisions and how they are formed. Multilingual communication in a health-care setting on the Czech-Austrian border.Problems in the Communication with Foreigners in the Hospital in Gmünd

The aim of the diploma thesis is to carry out a qualitative research of communication problems with foreigners in a hospital in Lower Austria (Landesklinikum Gmünd). The research is focused on finding out, which problems the hospital staff has to solve, how they deal with them (e.g. language courses provided by the language competence center from Lower Austria) and which foreign languages (Czech, Turkish) are related to these problems. The research uses the method of semi-structured interviews for collecting the data. The theoretical basis of the dissertation is the language management theory. Moreover, the dissertation also deals with the cross-border cooperation of the Czech Republic with Austria and Germany. This cooperation is represented by some selected projects, which objective is to support the language of the neighbouring country (Czech, German).
